During the reporting year, we took significant steps towards our goal of achieving carbon neutrality by the end of the 2030s. Reaching this target requires continuous investment in modernising the fleet and in developing alternatives to fossil fuels. A great deal happened on this front during the year: the first Eco Trader, Sofia VG, was launched at the end of the year, and intensive preparations were made towards the end of the year for the order of a third open deck carrier. Both of these efforts paid off in early 2026, when we announced the open deck carrier order and Sofia VG entered service. In addition, we signed long-term time charter agreements for two new dry cargo vessels. Thanks to these actions, the average age of our fleet will decrease significantly over the next few years, and the number of vessels suitable for biofuels will double.

“Despite global uncertainty, Meriaura continued to advance sustainability and reduce emissions. The rapid renewal of our fleet will further lower the environmental impact of our transport operations in the years ahead,” says Esko Pettay, Meriaura’s Sustainability Manager.
