Meriaura has signed a delivery contract for two Ecotrader cargo ships (Ecotraders) with the Dutch shipyard Royal Bodewes. The ships will be built in Holland, and their delivery will take place in January and December 2026. The ordered Ecotraders are 105 meters long, 1A ice classed, 6750 DWT vessels. The ships are designed to achieve the lowest possible emission levels. Like our EcoCoaster ships Eeva VG and Mirva VG delivered in 2016, the Ecotraders can be operated with biofuel made from recycled raw material produced by Meriaura’s subsidiary VG-Ecofuel.
For the first newbuilding NB 832 we are looking for

Chief Engineers
(Konepäällikkö) – holding a Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer, less than 3000 kW; STCW III/3 OR Second Engineer, STCW III/2. The engine room is single manned (Chief Engineer only).
Able Seafarer deck c.d.
(Matruusi YT) – holding a Certificate of Competency as Able Seafarer deck c.d.; STCW II/5 & III/4. This position requires certificates for common duty meaning that the seafarer must carry certificates for both the deck and engine department with focus on the deck department.

Chief Officer
(Yliperämies) – holding a Certificate of Competency as Chief Officer; STCW II/2 unlimited. Previous experience as chief officer and from similar vessel type is essential.
The positions are open and will gradually be filled from autumn 2025 as per agreement. All positions are permanent after a traditional trial period. Rotation according to 1:1 system, work and leave periods approximately five (5) weeks. Salary, other terms and conditions according to valid CBA. Official working language is English and therefore good language skills are required.
